Lucky and loved

Today I am lucky and loved. Well, I am those things everyday, but today I realize just how much. Last Thursday I opted for a bilateral lumpectomy to remove all the breast lumps I had. One lump was Intraductal Papilloma, some were fibrocystic, who knows what the rest were. Lumpy basically. I was going every 3-6 months to get ultrasounds and mammograms, throw in a couple bad MRIs (I am allergic to the contrast) and I was feeling done. One Dr. that was telling me basically I will be getting breast cancer at any moment was not making me feel like I was going to live to see my grandkids. Fast forward to firing that surgeon to finding one that thought the other Dr. may have been a little overzealous in wanting me undergoing surgery. He asked what I wanted and I said...um....to live. So he agreed to not just take the weird papilloma lump, but it would be best to take out all the lumps to end this mad search for the ever changes bumps in my boobs.
Thursday came, had surgery, came home and puked and passed out pretty much. David's friend was kind enough to bring food for David and the girls since I was not going to be keeping dinner down...lol. This last week was a blur! David helping me with everything I do in a day plus work his crazy schedule. The girls taking care of me...letting David put them to bed, careful not to jump on me getting out of the car, lots of telling me that my boobies are looking better everyday...haha!
My girls are strong....not even a little freaked out at the cuts all over that have my stomach doing flips. I am creeped out by almost everything medical...iv's, blood draws, steri tape, stitches, healing itchy wounds, you name it...it makes me a tad grossed out. I am much better dealing with pain than creepy, but they act like it is nothing! I have to say that I would undergo any amount of pain or creepy though to be here to see them grow up. I can't imagine not being there for all of the great things that life has waiting for them.
So, I got the steri tape off yesterday to finally see the damage and thought I might care that I will now be scarred like I got a boob job without the fabulous lift. Nope...I looked down today in the shower and thought how lucky I am I will live. Well, at least that is what my surgeon said. Live to be 100...haha! Love that guy!
That was good news and more good news is that I get to wait a whole year before more ultrasounds and mammograms. Don't get me wrong, I love Dr. Greer at the Breast Center, but this will be a nice break from boob mashing. Done hearing about boobs? Well, I am done talking about them...lol! I just feel extra lucky and loved this week! xoxo
